Latino Victory Fund announced Monday during a campaign community event that it has endorsed state Del. Joe Vogel (D-Montgomery County) in the Democratic primary for Maryland's 6th Congressional District.
President & CEO of Latino Victory Fund Sindy M. Benavides had this to say during the announcement:
“Joe Vogel’s credentials are formidable, combining legislative and leadership experience with the novel outlook that only a Gen Z, LGBTQ Latino can bring to Congress.
Our country needs more members like Joe in Congress, leaders who are unapologetic about fighting for the real issues, and progressive policies that strengthen and uplift the Latino community. Joe will be ready on day one—he’s a candidate with a vision and a plan that will strengthen economic growth, expand healthcare access, and support DACA recipients."
If elected, Vogel would be Maryland’s first Latino member of Congress.
The announcement comes on the heels of the release of Joe Vogel's comprehensive Latino policy agenda, "Plan Para El Futuro De Nuestra Comunidad," which focuses on economic growth, healthcare access, support for DACA recipients, and small business assistance for Maryland's 6th Congressional District's Latino community.
Vogel is one of nine candidates in the competitive race. Congressional Hispanic BOLD PAC and U.S. Reps Ritchie Torres (D-N.Y.) and Linda Sanchez (D-C.A.) have also endorsed him.
