Local and National Latino leaders Endorse Joe Vogel for MD06

The Vogel for Congress campaign continues to show its momentum, with key endorsements from both local and national latino leaders today. Former Gaithersburg City Council member Mike Sesma and Congressman Robert Garcia (D-C.A.) endorsed state Del. Joe Vogel (D-Montgomery County) in the Democratic primary for Maryland's 6th Congressional District.

Congressman Garcia had this to say during the announcement:

"I’m thrilled to be endorsing Joe Vogel to be Maryland’s next member of Congress.

As the first openly LGBTQ immigrant elected to Congress, I understand the importance of Joe’s candidacy.

Representation matters, and when elected, Joe will make history as Maryland’s first LGBTQ and first Latino member of Congress. Now more than ever we need a new generation of leaders to help fight and defend our democracy.

I know Joe has what it takes to win, and to deliver for the working families of Maryland’s 6th Congressional District."

If elected, Vogel would be Maryland’s first Latino member of Congress.

The announcement comes after the release of Joe Vogel's comprehensive Latino policy agenda, "Plan Para El Futuro De Nuestra Comunidad," which focuses on economic growth, healthcare access, support for DACA recipients, and small business assistance for Maryland's 6th Congressional District's Latino community.

Vogel is one of nine candidates in the competitive race.

The Congressional Hispanic BOLD PAC and the Latino Victory Fund have also endorsed.
